Fast forward to December 2021.
Scenario 1; your bank account is showing the same as it has every other year. You think you'll get through the festive season okay but there's definitely not the extra fat in your bank account that you had promised yourself there would be. This time last year you told yourself 2020 and 2021 will be different, but here you are again and it's not. So where did your whole year's salary actually go then? Well there are a few nice pieces of clothing but you definitely haven't been splurging all year. I guess there were a few big weekends, wait, actually there were a lot of big weekends. Whoops. An extra fifty dollars a week on takeaways too, I guess. Oh well, another modest December and January for me, but 2022 will DEFINITELY be different. Or will it?
Scenario 2; you reach December and you're incredibly proud of what you've achieved this year. You have never seen so much money in your bank account and the world is your oyster with what you can do with your newfound wealth. Your earnings haven't changed drastically this year (just the same small raise that everyone else got), but you finally added some structure and accountability to your financial situation and now you are right where you want to be. You can go on that holiday and not have to worry about money. You can plan a trip to the place you've always wanted to go because you finally have the resources to do so without thinking about how you're going to finance it. This year was finally the year that you made a change and you couldn't be any more proud of yourself.
What's the difference between these two scenarios? Luck? Probably not. Some mysterious discipline and willpower that turned up out of nowhere or some planning that you all of a sudden stopped putting off? Don't kid yourself again. Scenario 2 took action. Scenario 2 signed up to Net Worth Explosion and decided enough was enough with living a life of living pay cheque to pay cheque.
So where are you going to be at the end of this year? The same depressing situation you've found yourself in every year since you started earning money, or will you have finally turned your bank accounts around and become the financially independent person you always knew you wanted to become.
